Introduction
Hello all.
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Mike Billau; I am a freshmen engineer from Milan, Michigan, a small “country” town a few minutes south of A². I have been blogging for a few years and have recently started a new “experimental” blog that is more of an artistic endeavor than anything else – I suppose I could post a link, but it is more for my enjoyment/fulfillment than for other readers. I am also a freelance website designer and developer and have been building and managing websites for about three years. While I consider myself to be pretty good at web design, I have decided that I do not want to pursue it professionally and am currently studying biomedical engineering here at umich.
Right now I am living up in North Campus in the Baits II area. It is a pretty good situation. I have an excellent roommate and set of suitemates, and the other students on our floor are all very friendly. Since there are only twelve of us living on the fourth floor, it makes for a nice little family atmosphere. Our doors are always open - I really like it, especially when new people just wander in and I get to meet somebody else. I told myself when I moved here that I would try to meet one new person every day, and so far I reached that goal every day.
I am not involved in very many clubs at the University yet because I am in the Marching Band, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. In all honesty, I was really surprised when I found out that I made the band, especially since I didn’t prepare myself at all. I remember that I couldn’t get football tickets because of some problem with the system, so I though “Oh well, might as well try out for the band.” It was definitely a good decision. I love marching and I love how I was able to meet so many awesome people so quickly. The band members from my section (Tenor Sax) really made me feel welcome and ready for college, and their encouragement was something that I definitely needed after the first few weeks here when I found out how challenging it was really going to be.
Right, well that’s a basic introduction I suppose. I hope to be able to post a new entry at least once a week. Feel free to leave comments or email.
*Edit: I thought that I had posted this entry a few weeks ago (around Thanksgiving) but apparently I didn't wait long enough to make sure that the posting was a success, and, of course, it wasn't. Sorry!*
